Who would have ever thought that this is possible? An egg to defend the gym? Ridiculous right? Well this is something Niantic needs to fix now.
The main purpose of the egg is to produce Pokemon, however, some players are taking advantage of this bug. There are reports circulating around the web that some players manage to station an egg as gym leaders.
And once an egg goes up on the gym, it cannot be defeated or dethrone.
